WM Daily is a famous theoretical olfactory physicist who discovered the speed of smell.
According to Mr Daily, "No one can smell faster than the speed of smell".
According to his "General Theory Of Smell", "If a person is riding on the front of a train, and the train is traveling at the speed of smell, then that person on the train can't smell an apple which is dropped from a tree even if gravity pulls the apple faster than the train is traveling.
According to Newton's law, "Newtons aren't made from apples, they are made from figs" accordingly Daily's General Theory has never been reconciled to account for the differnece in smell between apples and figs, so the "Special Theory of Smell" was developed by Daily to account for the difference. Also the advent of diesel electric locomotives which don't belch forth copious amounts of smelly smoke has highlighted the need to further elaborate on the "General Theory of Smell" using the "Special Theory of Smell".
According to the "Special Theory of Smell" "The only way one can smell a newton while traveling on a train is if the train is an electric train". Also it has been noted that if the train passes a warm apple pie held up by someone's mom, some scientists believe that you can actually smell it.
The United States Government has decided to fund further research into this phenomenon known as the "Mom and Apple Pie Effect". Congress recently appropriated $629.37 to build a facility and has elected to build the worlds largest oven under the stadium of Auburn University. This site was chosen because it was rumored that the students and professors alike at Auburn are knowledgeable in the science of picking apples. Auburn is the only 4 year college in the world to offer an apple picking degree.
